Honestly it reminds of when someone like The Game attempts some type of positive track you can't help but feel he's in unfamiliar territory mimicking others, while waiting for him to get back to what he does better: shit talking. I like Saigon, but many of his lyrics feel textbook with a host of 'if you believe you can achieve' generic positive lyricism attempts at social commentary that mixed with the cookie cutter writing and soul samples make it sound like something you've heard a million times. I remember hearing Believe It during the autotune crazy a few years ago and shaking my head - it's even more SMH worthy in 2011 with autotune dead.Lyrically there are dated references to Young Joc, Hurricane Katrina, buying real estate etc that kinda feel out of place to me. Just Blaze has always been a heavy soul sampler, and some tracks feel like Jay-Z throwaways from the mid 2000s (It's Alright). But the album sounds extremely dated, and not in a good way. The production is great for the most part, as expected. Guess I'll be in the minority, but to me Greatest Story Never Told is quite lackluster, and very disappointing. ![]()
